Techno Music
"Techno music"
is a genre of music that first became popular in the mid-1980s
in Detroit, Michigan.
It was mostly developed by "The Belleville Three" (Juan Atkins,
Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson) a group of African-American
college students who created this music in their basements.
"Techno music" is wholesome electronic music that combines
classic German electronica with a typical urban American theme.
It was initially thought of as being ideal party music for it
was played often in dance clubs where High School students
would hang out and have a good time.
Nonetheless, it has blossomed into a global musical phenomenon.
Interestingly, many in America refer to all types of
electronic music as "techno music" although throughout Europe
there are many more specific terms for like genres.
Since the 1990s, "techno music" has become intrinsically
connected to wild raves where people spend hours on end
dancing to various DJ mixes; this is especially true in Europe.
"Techno music" was greatly influenced by New Wave, Funk,
electro and futuristic fiction themes that were an integral
part of post-Cold War industrial America.
It features numerous percussive, produced sounds, studio
effects used as main instrumentation and generally
incorporates a quick beat.
There are a variety of ways to make "techno music", the most
common way is produced through the use of a compositional
technique specifically made to the electronic instrumentation.
The free Detroit Electronic Music Festival grew into one of
the most influential electronica events worldwide since 2000
attracting numerous enthusiasts from all over the globe.
